The Chinmaya Mission was formed in 1953 in order to spread the ancient teachings
of Vedanta, the logic of spirituality, to people all around the world.
Today, it is a worldwide movement with thousands of members from all
walks of life, where all activity is undertaken with the aim of one's
own spiritual growth and happiness, enabling us to become positive
contributors to society.
Vedanta, the core of Hindu philosophy, is the universal science of
life, relevant to all people whatever their faith. The aim of the
Mission is to impart this timeless science and infuse its members with
dynamic wisdom through further knowledge of the Self.
This dynamism can be seen in the hundred's of free schools, hospitals
and rural upliftment projects the mission funds and oversees.
Today, the Chinmaya Mission has over 250 centres around the world,
thousands of members, over 200 Swamiji's and Brahmacharis, all
working to fulfil the Mission's motto:
"To give maximum happiness to the maximum number for the maximum time.";
